The Dattel app is designed with privacy in mind. There are no user accounts and no central servers storing your personal data. Your reflections stay on your device.
All content you enter in the app — including persons and Debriefs you create, photos and voice memos you add, archive entries, and your settings — is stored exclusively on your device (using AsyncStorage or as files on the device) and never leaves your device.
You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app.
We use PostHog, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to help us improve the app. We collect only anonymized usage events (such as feature interactions and screen views) along with technical device data (device type, screen size, app version, timezone) and an anonymous session ID for grouping.
The content of your reflections — names, notes, vibe scores, flags, or values — is never transmitted to PostHog or any other server. Your email address is not collected. IP addresses are not stored permanently; however, PostHog derives an approximate location (country, region, and approximate postal-code area) from the IP address, processed in anonymized form for coarse geographic analytics. This does not allow any conclusion about your exact address or identity.
Data is processed on EU-based servers (eu.i.posthog.com). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in product improvement). For more information, see posthog.com/privacy.
Dattel offers an optional Premium subscription. In-app purchases and Premium-status verification are handled via RevenueCat.
When you make a purchase, Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) processes your payment information. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user ID and purchase status to confirm your Premium entitlement. No payment data is processed directly by the app. For more information, see revenuecat.com/privacy.
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties beyond those described in this policy. Data may be disclosed if required by law.
